Since November 2024, WWF has partnered with MSCI, one of the world’s leading financial data providers, to integrate data from the WWF Biodiversity Risk Filter (WWF BRF) into the MSCI’s product suite, and extensive geospatial asset database covering 3.7 million assets worldwide.
The collaboration between WWF Switzerland, WWF Germany, and MSCI marks an important step in advancing the integration of nature into investment decisions and stewardship activities worldwide. WWF acts as a data provider and technical advisor for nature-related data.

The message is clear: this study shows we now have enough data to assess key exposures of nature-related financial risk—and it is material. The lack of data can no longer justify inaction. Investors who want to align portfolios with the transition to a nature-positive economy need to start screening, engaging and mitigating these risks now.
